Communities Get Editor Enhancements, Banning, and Downloads
TL;DR
HighLevel Communities received a rich text editor toolbar, direct user banning from posts, recording downloads, and improved comment editor keyboard shortcuts.

TL;DR
HighLevel updated the Communities feature with editor improvements, new moderation tools, and content download options. This is a standard update to an existing feature, not requiring immediate action.
Who this affects
HighLevel has not confirmed who is affected. Agencies currently using or planning to use the Communities feature will notice these changes. Agencies not using Communities can safely ignore this update.
What changed
- When text is selected in a post, a floating rich text formatting toolbar now appears.
- This toolbar includes options for Bold, Italic, Underline, Strikethrough, and inserting a link.
- Users can ban another user directly from their post via the three-dot menu.
- A confirmation dialog for banning users allows for optional deletion of all user-created content.
- Recordings can now be downloaded directly from a recording post using the three-dot menu.
- The comment editor's keyboard shortcuts were updated based on community feedback. Enter now creates a new paragraph, Shift + Enter creates a new line, and Ctrl + Enter (or clicking Post) publishes the comment.
- HighLevel has not confirmed the rollout status or any limits or plan gating associated with these changes.
Where to find it
These enhancements are located within the Communities feature in HighLevel. Users will find the rich text toolbar appearing when editing posts, the ban option within the three-dot menu of user posts, and the download option within the three-dot menu of recording posts. The new keyboard shortcuts apply directly to the comment editor within Communities.
How agencies will use this
An agency managing a client's community could leverage these updates for better content creation and moderation. For example, an agency staff member creating an important announcement post within a client's Community tab could now easily bold key phrases or link to external resources using the new rich text toolbar that appears when text is selected. If a user posts inappropriate content, the agency staff member can quickly navigate to that specific user's post, click the three-dot menu, and initiate a ban. During the ban process, they can choose to delete all of that user's previous content with a single action. Additionally, if the client records a training session and shares it within the Community, other members can now download that recording directly from the post for offline viewing. This streamlines both content delivery and community management for agency clients.
Our take
This is a minor but welcome update. HighLevel continues to refine the Communities feature. The new rich text editor brings basic formatting closer to what users expect from modern editors. Direct banning from posts and content deletion improves moderation efficiency. Downloading recordings is a practical addition. The updated comment editor shortcuts align with common text editing patterns. None of these changes are groundbreaking, but they contribute to a more polished user experience within Communities. Don't reshuffle your priorities for this, but if you're using Communities, you'll appreciate these small quality-of-life improvements.
