Partial Payments and Deposits Added to HighLevel Rentals
TL;DR
HighLevel now supports rental deposits and scheduled balance charges, automatically billing the card on file before the rental start date.

TL;DR
HighLevel now supports partial payments for rentals, allowing upfront deposits at checkout with automated balance collection before the rental date. If your agency configures rental calendars for clients, review your calendar payment settings now.
Who this affects
HighLevel has not confirmed specific plan gating or sub-account tier restrictions for this feature. Agencies and sub-accounts running rental calendars will use this directly. Those not running rental or booking operations can ignore it.
What changed
HighLevel added a structured deposit and balance collection system for rentals:
- Deposit configuration: Collect an upfront deposit between 1% and 99% of the booking total at checkout, with the remaining balance due before the rental starts.
- Automatic balance charging: The balance charges automatically on the due date using the card saved on file from the initial deposit.
- Checkout clarity: Checkout forms now display "Due today" and "Due [date]" alongside an explanatory tooltip.
- Security deposit controls: Security deposits can be collected upfront at booking, collected alongside the final balance, or retained as a Card on File.
- Cutoff fallback: Bookings placed after the balance due date automatically convert to a single full payment requirement at checkout.
- Sidebar installment tracking: The booking sidebar displays the due date, amount, and payment status for every installment.
- Manual collection: Balances can be collected manually at any time via Actions → Collect Payment.
- Dynamic adjustments: Schedule and amount calculations adjust automatically when booking dates or totals change, including generating an "Additional charge" if items are added after full payment.
Rollout status and plan gating remain unconfirmed by HighLevel.
Where to find it
Go to Calendars → Calendar settings → Rentals → Global settings → Payment settings inside your sub-account.
How agencies will use this
An agency configuring a sub-account for an equipment or property rental business can set the calendar payment settings to collect a 25% deposit at checkout. When a customer books a date, the checkout form charges the deposit and securely saves the card details while displaying the due date for the remaining balance. Before the rental date arrives, HighLevel automatically processes the remaining 75% on the scheduled date without staff intervention. If the customer later calls to add items to the reservation, the rental calendar recalculates the balance and generates an additional charge, or staff can manually charge the card via Actions → Collect Payment.
Our take
This is a major update for anyone operating rental businesses on HighLevel. Handling deposits and balance payments used to require manual follow-ups, fragmented payment links, or external software. Tying automatic card-on-file balance billing directly into native rental calendars makes the rental engine viable for production operations. HighLevel has not confirmed whether this feature is restricted to specific pricing tiers, but if you run rentals, it is worth testing in your sub-account today.
