Associated Records Added to Contact Smart Lists
TL;DR
Users can now view, filter, and segment Contacts by associated Custom Object and Company records in Smart Lists.

TL;DR
Contact Smart Lists now support filtering, viewing, and segmenting by associated Custom Objects and Companies. You must turn on the toggle in Labs to use it.
Who this affects
HighLevel has not confirmed which specific plan tiers or user roles this affects. Operators managing contacts linked to Companies or Custom Objects will use this most. If your sub-accounts do not use Custom Objects or linked Company records, you can ignore it.
What changed
HighLevel added several capabilities to Contact Smart Lists around record associations:
- Columns for association labels now display linked Custom Object and Company records.
- Linked records appear as clickable chips, with a +N indicator when multiple records are connected to a single contact.
- The "Company name" column has been renamed to "Primary Company" and now includes a chip for the linked Company.
- Association filtering is available with four operators: "Contains any", "Does not contain any", "Is empty", and "Is not empty".
- You can save Smart Lists based on these association filter conditions.
- The feature requires enabling "Association Columns and Filters for Contacts" in Labs.
HighLevel has not confirmed rollout status, plan limits, or whether any existing functionality breaks with this change.
Where to find it
Find the new views and filters under Contacts > Smart Lists.
To see them, you must first enable "Association Columns and Filters for Contacts" inside Labs in your account settings.
How agencies will use this
Agencies using Custom Objects can now segment contact databases by linked relationships without manual record audits.
An operator can navigate to Contacts > Smart Lists inside a sub-account, add an association filter, and set it to "Is not empty" or "Contains any" for a specific Custom Object or Primary Company. The resulting list shows clickable chips for each linked record, including the +N count when contacts tie to multiple entities. The agency can then save that view as a dedicated Smart List to quickly inspect linked account coverage or identify unassigned contacts.
Our take
HighLevel categorizes this as a major update, though they have not confirmed the explicit reason.
It makes sense: Custom Objects lose much of their utility if you cannot view or filter them from main list views. Adding association columns, chips, and basic operators directly into Smart Lists fills an obvious operational gap. Because it is currently gated behind a Labs toggle, turn it on in a test sub-account first to confirm the layout fits your team's workflow before enabling it everywhere.
