Web Search Added to AI Agent Workflow Action
TL;DR
HighLevel added a Web Search tool to the AI Agent workflow action, billed at 1¢ to 1.4¢ per search depending on the model.

TL;DR
HighLevel added a live web search toggle inside the AI Agent workflow action with per-search billing. Review your automated AI agents if you need them to search the internet or parse live web pages.
Who this affects
HighLevel has not confirmed specific plan gating or sub-account eligibility for this update. Anyone actively building or maintaining automations using the AI Agent action should take note. Agencies not using AI Agent actions can ignore it.
What changed
- Added a Built-in tools section located directly below Tools inside the AI Agent Action.
- Added a Web search toggle in Built-in tools that allows the agent to search the internet during execution.
- Enabled the agent to read specific web pages when URLs are provided in the Instructions field.
- Established per-search billing for the Web search tool at 1¢ per search for OpenAI and Claude models, and 1.4¢ per search for Gemini models.
- Announced upcoming Built-in tools integrations for AI image generation and AI video generation inside the AI Agent Action.
- Limits, plan restrictions, and rollout status have not been confirmed by HighLevel.
Where to find it
In your sub-account, go to Automation > Workflows. Open or add an AI Agent Action step. Look for the Built-in tools section directly below the Tools section to access the Web search toggle.
How agencies will use this
An agency sets up a workflow triggered by an inbound contact form submission that includes a lead's business website URL. The workflow routes into an AI Agent action. In the Instructions field, the agency passes the lead's URL so the agent reads the specific page directly. With the Web search toggle enabled under Built-in tools, the agent searches the internet to gather background context on the lead's industry and services before generating an informed reply or updating the contact record in the sub-account.
Our take
This is a major functional update for workflow automation. Giving the AI Agent native web access and the ability to read provided URLs removes the need for external scraping steps or third-party search integrations. Keep an eye on the per-search costs. At 1¢ to 1.4¢ per search, high-volume workflow triggers will add up on your usage bill if you leave the search toggle turned on without monitoring execution volume.
