Gift Card Redemption for Calendar Payments Now Live
TL;DR
Businesses can now redeem customer gift cards when collecting payments for appointments, services, and rentals.
TL;DR
HighLevel now allows gift card redemption during calendar payment collection. This improves payment flexibility for agencies and their clients.
Who this affects
This affects businesses that use HighLevel calendars for appointments, services, or rentals, and offer gift cards to customers.
What changed
- Gift cards can be redeemed when collecting payments directly from an appointment.
- This applies to Meetings, Services, and Rentals calendars.
- Businesses can apply a customer’s available gift card balance when charging a saved card or adding a new card.
- Gift card redemption is now possible in offline/off-session Calendar payment flows.
- If a gift card covers an entire payment, no additional payment method is charged.
- If a gift card covers a partial balance, it is redeemed first, and the remaining amount is charged to the customer’s saved payment method.
- Clear validation messages are shown for invalid, expired, or zero-balance gift cards.
- Transaction Details clearly show the amount redeemed using the gift card.
- For split payments, the gift card amount and the amount collected through the other payment method are displayed separately.
- The associated Gift Card Order is automatically updated with the remaining balance after every successful redemption.
- HighLevel has not confirmed who this affects, what it replaces or breaks, any limits or plan gating, or the rollout status.
Where to find it
Open the Appointment, navigate to the Payments tab, click Collect Payment, select Charge a Card, choose Redeem a Gift Card.
How agencies will use this
An agency client, a salon, can now easily apply a customer's gift card balance directly when scheduling a haircut through their HighLevel calendar. If the gift card covers the full amount, no further payment is needed. If it covers only part of the cost, the remaining balance can be charged to the customer's card on file, streamlining the checkout process and improving customer experience.
Our take
This is a major update. It addresses a gap in payment processing within the calendar function, making gift cards more practical for service-based businesses. It enhances the native payment capabilities within HighLevel.
