Gift Card Permissions Now Granular for Team Members
TL;DR
Go HighLevel introduced granular user permissions for Gift Cards, allowing specific access controls for team members.

TL;DR
Go HighLevel has rolled out granular user permissions for Gift Cards. Admins can now precisely control which team members access and manage gift card functions.
Who this affects
This update affects agencies using the Gift Card feature in Go HighLevel. Specifically, it impacts agency owners and sub-account administrators who manage staff permissions. Agencies with multiple team members handling gift card sales or management will find this relevant. HighLevel has not confirmed who is affected beyond this general scope.
What changed
HighLevel now allows granular control over Gift Card permissions for team members. Previously, control was likely less defined or all-or-nothing. Admins can assign permissions based on individual team member responsibilities. This includes specific control over:
- Viewing Gift Card Orders.
- Viewing Gift Card Products.
- Creating or Editing Gift Card Products.
- Accessing the Sell Link or sharing via QR.
- Sending Gift Cards.
- Viewing Full Gift Card Codes.
- Accessing the Gift Card Details Page.
- Deleting or Deactivating Gift Cards.
Permissions are enforced across the user interface and underlying system actions. Admins retain full Gift Card access by default. Other roles can be configured with specific Gift Card capabilities. Gift card permissions also support 'assigned data' level granularity for 'Users' to show only assigned data. HighLevel has not confirmed if this replaces existing functionality, breaks anything, or has any limits or plan gating. Rollout status is also not confirmed.
Where to find it
These new permissions are located within the staff management settings. To configure them, navigate to Settings → My Staff → Select a Staff Member → Edit Icon → Roles & Permissions → Gift Cards.
How agencies will use this
An agency managing a sub-account for a spa client that sells gift cards can now assign specific roles to their client's front desk staff. Instead of giving them full administrative access to gift cards, the agency can configure permissions so a receptionist can only 'View Gift Card Orders' and 'Send Gift Cards' to customers. Meanwhile, a manager might have 'Create/Edit Gift Card Products' and 'Access Gift Card Details Page' permissions to manage inventory and promotions. This ensures sensitive actions like 'Delete/Deactivate Gift Cards' or 'View Full Gift Card Code' are restricted to higher-level personnel or the agency itself, preventing accidental changes or misuse.
Our take
This is a major update for agencies utilizing the Gift Card feature, especially those managing larger sub-accounts or clients with extensive staff. While the rollout status, specific affected parties, and any potential plan gating are not confirmed by HighLevel, the added control over staff access is a significant operational improvement. It addresses a common pain point in multi-user environments by enhancing security and workflow efficiency. This update matters for any agency that wants tighter control over client sub-account operations.
