Workflow Sidebar Pins Now Show Relevant Actions Only

TL;DR

Pinned and Recent sections in workflow sidebars now display only actions relevant to the workflow's object type.

TL;DR

HighLevel fixed the Pinned and Recent sections in workflow sidebars. They now only show actions relevant to the specific workflow's object type.

Who this affects

HighLevel has not confirmed who is affected. Agency owners and SaaS entrepreneurs using Workflows, especially those with custom objects, should note this update. Those who rely on the Pinned and Recent sections for quick action selection may experience a change in displayed options.

What changed

The Pinned and Recent sections in the Actions & Triggers sidebar now list only actions and triggers relevant to the open workflow's object type. The sidebar checks the workflow's object type before rendering Pinned and Recent actions. This means contact actions are now only displayed in contact workflows. Similarly, company actions are now only displayed in company workflows, and custom object actions are only displayed in workflows built for that specific custom object. Irrelevant actions are hidden from these sections. Existing pinned items remain intact but are hidden in workflows where they do not apply. The full action and trigger list below the Pinned and Recent sections remains unchanged. HighLevel has not confirmed if this replaces or breaks existing functionality, its limits or plan gating, or its rollout status.

Where to find it

This change is visible within HighLevel at Automations > Workflows > Actions & Triggers sidebar > Pinned and Recent sections.

How agencies will use this

Consider an agency managing marketing automation for an e-commerce client. They might have a specific workflow designed to nurture leads that originate from a contact form (a contact workflow). When building or modifying this workflow, previously, the Pinned and Recent sections in the sidebar might have shown actions relevant to company objects or even custom objects the agency uses for other clients. Now, when working within this contact-specific workflow, the Pinned and Recent sections will exclusively display contact-related actions like 'Add Contact Tag' or 'Send Email'. This streamlines the workflow building process, reducing visual clutter and preventing accidental selection of an irrelevant action. It ensures that the tools immediately available are always contextually appropriate for the task at hand.

Our take

This is a standard update, focusing on improved usability. While HighLevel has not confirmed who is affected or its rollout status, it's a minor quality-of-life fix. It streamlines the workflow builder interface by reducing visual clutter in the Pinned and Recent sections. It matters if you frequently use these sections and found them previously displaying irrelevant options. Otherwise, it’s not an update that requires immediate action or significant attention this week.
