GoHighLevel Snapshots: Create, Export & Import Playbook
TL;DR
Learn to effectively leverage GoHighLevel snapshots to streamline client onboarding and deploy proven configurations across sub-accounts.
Who this is for
This playbook is for GoHighLevel agency owners and their teams looking to standardize their service offerings, accelerate client setup, and maintain consistency across multiple client sub-accounts.
What you'll build
You will learn the process of creating a GoHighLevel snapshot, configuring it with your desired settings and assets, and then exporting and importing that snapshot to replicate a pre-built system into any new or existing sub-account.
Step by step
Understand GoHighLevel Snapshots: A snapshot is a template that packages specific configurations (funnels, websites, forms, surveys, workflows, custom fields, calendars, etc.) from one sub-account, allowing you to deploy them quickly into others.
Prepare Your Source Sub-Account: Set up a dedicated 'master' sub-account or an existing client sub-account with all the funnels, websites, custom fields, forms, surveys, automation workflows, custom values, and other elements you want to include in your snapshot.
Create a New Snapshot:
- Navigate to Agency Settings > Snapshots.
- Click on + Create New Snapshot.
- Select the sub-account you wish to use as the source for your snapshot.
- Click Create Snapshot.
Edit and Configure Your Snapshot (Optional but Recommended):
- After creation, click the three dots menu next to your new snapshot and select Edit Snapshot.
- Carefully review and select the specific elements (e.g., funnels, workflows, custom fields, campaigns) you want to include in this snapshot. Deselect any items you don't want to carry over.
- Click Update Snapshot to save your changes.
Export a Snapshot (Save for Future Use/Sharing):
- Navigate to Agency Settings > Snapshots.
- Click the three dots menu next to the snapshot you want to export.
- Select Export Snapshot. This will download a
.zipfile of your snapshot to your computer.
Import a Snapshot into a Sub-Account:
- Navigate to Agency Settings > Sub-Accounts.
- Locate the sub-account where you want to import the snapshot and click the Manage Account icon (pencil icon) next to it.
- On the Sub-Account Details page, scroll down to the Snapshot section.
- Select your desired snapshot from the dropdown menu.
- Click Save. The system will begin applying the snapshot to the sub-account. This may take a few minutes depending on the size of the snapshot.
Common mistakes
- Including Client-Specific Data: Accidentally leaving client-specific forms, campaigns, or custom values in a master snapshot, leading to irrelevant or incorrect data for new clients.
- Not Editing After Creation: Creating a snapshot but forgetting to edit it to deselect unnecessary elements from the source sub-account, resulting in bloat or conflicts.
- Forgetting to Update Source: Making changes to your master sub-account but not updating the corresponding snapshot, causing new sub-accounts to receive outdated configurations.
- Overwriting Existing Content: Importing a snapshot into a sub-account that already has similar assets without proper planning can lead to duplicate items or confusion.
- Skipping the Test: Not importing the snapshot into a test sub-account before deploying it widely to ensure all components transfer correctly and function as expected.
