GHL SaaS Mode Playbook: Resell Sub-Accounts with Your Own Pricing

TL;DR

This playbook guides GoHighLevel agency owners through activating SaaS mode and configuring custom pricing plans for reselling sub-accounts.

Who this is for

GoHighLevel agency owners looking to package and resell their own branded GoHighLevel instances (sub-accounts) under a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, setting their own pricing and plans.

What you'll build

A fully configured GoHighLevel agency account with SaaS mode enabled, custom SaaS plans defined, and a working funnel or direct link for clients to subscribe to your branded GoHighLevel service.

Step by step

  1. Enable SaaS Mode: From your Agency Dashboard, navigate to 'SaaS Configurator' (under Agency Settings). This is the primary control panel for your SaaS offerings.
  2. Configure Snapshot: Select the default snapshot that will be provisioned for new SaaS clients. This snapshot should contain your pre-built funnels, automations, custom fields, and other configurations. Go to 'SaaS Configurator' -> 'General Settings' -> 'SaaS Snapshot'.
  3. Set Up Initial Pricing Plans: Within the 'SaaS Configurator', navigate to 'SaaS Plans'. Create your desired tiers (e.g., Basic, Pro, Unlimited). For each plan:
    • Name & Description: Give it a clear name and a brief description.
    • Features: Define which GoHighLevel features are included or restricted (e.g., number of users, custom values, email sends, Workflow Steps, etc.).
    • Pricing: Set your monthly or annual subscription price. Connect your Stripe account to process payments.
    • Included Services: Define included services like emails, phone, and text messages at your desired markup if applicable, or choose to pass through HighLevel's default rates.
  4. Customize Branding: Ensure your agency's branding is consistent across the platform. Go to 'Agency Settings' -> 'Company Details' to set your company name, logo, favicon, and domains.
  5. Create an Onboarding Funnel (Optional but Recommended): Build a simple funnel in your agency account that guides prospective clients through selecting a SaaS plan and signing up. This funnel will typically contain your pricing page and a checkout page linked to the SaaS plans you created.
  6. Test Your Setup: Create a test sub-account using one of your SaaS plans. Go through the entire signup and onboarding process as if you were a new client to ensure everything works as expected, from payment processing to snapshot provisioning.

Common mistakes

  • Not testing the full client journey: Failing to sign up for a test account and verify payment, snapshot loading, and initial access can lead to broken experiences for real clients.
  • Unclear feature limitations: Not clearly defining what's included or excluded in each SaaS plan can lead to client confusion and support issues.
  • Incorrect API key/Stripe setup: If your Stripe account is not properly connected or the API keys are incorrect, payment processing will fail.
  • Forgetting to update the SaaS Snapshot: If you make changes to your core offering (e.g., new funnels, workflows), you must update or create a new snapshot and assign it to your SaaS plans. Otherwise, new clients will receive an outdated version.
  • Overlooking SMS/Email/Calling Markups: Not setting competitive or profitable markups for communication services can erode your margins quickly.
