AI Studio Cloud: Built-in Backend for Your Apps
TL;DR
AI Studio apps now offer a built-in backend with database, user accounts, and file storage capabilities.

TL;DR
HighLevel's AI Studio apps now include a built-in backend for databases, user accounts, and file storage. This is a significant update for agency owners developing custom applications within AI Studio.
Who this affects
HighLevel has not confirmed who is specifically affected. However, this update is relevant for agency owners and SaaS entrepreneurs using AI Studio to build custom applications. Agencies creating apps that require data persistence, user management, or file storage will find this particularly useful. Those not developing custom apps within AI Studio can safely ignore this update.
What changed
AI Studio apps can now integrate a built-in backend. HighLevel provisions a private backend for each AI Studio project, including a database, user accounts, and file storage. Key features of this new Cloud service include:
- Database Management: Users can manage database tables, rows, and schema directly via AI Studio chat. Daily backups are performed for the database snapshot, schema, and rows. The database size can be adjusted hourly between Tiny (free), Mini, Small, Medium, Large, or X-Large. Database storage can grow up to four times a day.
- User Management: Features cover signup tracking, email search, creating users, sending invitations, and deleting users. Authentication settings allow for configuring email confirmation, auto-confirmation (for testing), new sign-up allowance, password rules, and site/redirect URLs.
- File Storage: This uses buckets (public/private) with naming conventions. Users can organize files into folders, upload, download, delete, rename, and copy URLs. Upload size limits can be set, and read/write policies for files can be reviewed.
- Cloud Service Management: The cloud service can be paused and resumed. If billing issues arise, Cloud pauses itself without deleting data. Removing Cloud permanently deletes the project's database, users, and files.
- Security & Compatibility: A security advisor identifies problems and offers fixes via AI Studio. Cloud works with apps built on TanStack Start. Existing React projects can migrate to Server-Side Rendering (SSR) to use Cloud, creating an upgraded copy. Sharing or remixing an app does not copy its Cloud data.
HighLevel has not confirmed any specific limits or plan gating, nor the rollout status for this feature.
Where to find it
The Cloud feature is accessible within AI Studio. Navigate to More → Cloud from the Overview section within AI Studio.
How agencies will use this
An agency owner building a custom client portal application within AI Studio can now use Cloud to manage all their portal data directly. For instance, they might create a database table to store custom client records, such as project milestones or specific task assignments, beyond what's typically in HighLevel contacts. They would use the user management features to register and authenticate clients logging into this custom portal. Furthermore, they could leverage file storage to allow clients to upload documents related to their projects, like design assets or compliance forms, storing them securely within private buckets. The agency would manage database schema and client access rules through the AI Studio chat interface, creating a self-contained, custom-branded experience for their clients without relying on external backend services.
Our take
This is a major update. The addition of a built-in backend significantly expands the capabilities of AI Studio for custom application development. It centralizes database, user, and file management directly within HighLevel, which can reduce complexity and the need for external services for agencies building bespoke solutions.
